Jiaoqiu is of average height, with pale pink hair that reaches to his shoulderblades, which he often wears half-up with a braid at the back and accessories. As a foxian, he has vulpine ears and a very fluffy vulpine tail. His eyes are a pale orange with narrow pupils, and he wears some jewelry on his ears.
He wears a long red coat with embroidered details, often with the arms hanging empty, and a white shirt underneath with dark blue pants, and tall black boots. Often accompanying him is a fan of dark red feathers. Jiaoqiu's general expression is genial and harmless, which belies his sometimes sharp tongue.

Though Jiaoqiu always greets people with a genial smile and polite words, he's a fairly ruthless schemer underneath his impassive exterior. Riddled with trauma from a long war where he grew to perceive himself as useless, Jiaoqiu can become bitter when the topic of war and combat comes up, and has been left with a disregard for honor and a determination to do whatever is necessary to win.
He cares deeply about those he considers to be in his charge, and doesn't hesitate to put himself in harm's way if need be. Though his passion faltered for a while, Jiaoqiu is keenly interested in anything related to medicine and food, and especially the combination of both.

Born into a wealthy family with a long history at the Xianzhou Yaoqing's Alchemy Commission, Jiaoqiu followed in his parents footsteps and became a medical researcher. At a young age he developed a keen interest in food, and would often spend his days gathering ingredients. As a young adult, he invented a specific medical technique called the nine-squared grid, a cauldron based formula that revolutionized the field.
He became a battlefield medic in the fight against the Abundance, and spent his days and nights healing soldiers as best he could. But he eventually grew disillusioned with war; patching soldiers up only to wave goodbye as they were sent off to battle again the next day, seeing the same faces under his care time and time again. Jiaoqiu was heartbroken by the futility of it all, and began to wonder what the point of his profession was. So traumatized, he ceased to be able to taste food, and wound up retiring.
For a while, he ran a restaurant, the Rainsoar Eatery, and slowly healed, discovering spice and how it could transform a dish and shock the tastebuds into awakening. A woman that he saved on the battlefield became the General of the Yaoqing, and asked him to help her with a health issue she was having -- so Jiaoqiu came out of retirement, and now serves as healer and counselor.
